CultuurClub Plus is committed to cultural experiences within residential care centres. Through the project, we want older people to be able to participate fully in cultural life. The ultimate goal is to give art and culture a permanent place in residential care contexts, and to gear the cultural offering there to the residents.
On the one hand, we want to give care centres an impulse to invest in a varied cultural offering, based on the interests and questions of the residents and co-designed by them. On the other hand, we also want to encourage local cultural players to work in an outreaching way and to (also) provide an offer in the residential care centre.
At the heart of the project are CultuurClubs, consisting of residents and interested family and staff members. These Clubs shape cultural life in and around the residential care home in a participatory way, based on the input of the residents. Together with artistic and cultural players from the neighbourhood, activities such as workshops, excursions, films, lectures are planned. This creates a local network tailored to the residential care home, with community and cultural centres, libraries, artists' collectives, art houses, etc. The aim is for the CultuurClub to become a permanent fixture and for the cooperation with local cultural partners to continue in the longer term.
Lasso coordinates the establishment of the networks, supervises the collaborations and documents the project. The insights and learnings gained will be shared afterwards to encourage other residential care centres and cultural players to set up similar collaborations. For this project, we collaborate with the Brussels Ouderenplatform (Brussels elderly platform). CultuurClub Plus is made possible thanks to the support of the King Baudouin Foundation.
